Pavilion Committee

The Pavilion Committee is made up from representatives from the Parish Council and the different sports clubs that use the facilities.  It's role is to provide a safe environment for all team members and visitors that use the pavilion, and it works closely with other local groups who wish to use the facilities for occasional and annual events. It is also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the pavilion, whilst managing the funding and payments for the amenities.

Although the football and cricket pitches are not the Pavilion Committee’s responsibility, two members of the committee are the grounds men, so can highlight any issue to the parish council regarding the conditions, wear and tear and health and safety issues with the sports areas.

The Committee members are:

Peter Howells: Chairman
Paul Baker: Treasurer
Pauline Davis: Secretary and SA representative
Richard Westwood: Silchester Parish Council representative
Paul Hearn: Silchester Cricket Club
Paul Evans: Silchester Football
Tim Stagg: Tadley Calleva Boys
Chris Hawkes: Maintenance and Security

The sporting teams currently using the pavilion are Silchester Cricket Club (silchester.play-cricket.com), Calleva Football Club and Silchester Football Club.  Silchester Utd FC are a men’s team who play in the Basingstoke & District League on Saturdays and have been running for some twenty three years, but have been around since the 1919. They were promoted to Division One after a very successful season reaching two Cup Finals and will be training on Sunday mornings.  As they are a self funding team they are always on the look out for new sponsors to help purchase new equipment such as goal posts, balls, first aid kit etc.  Please contact Paul Evans on 01189 701293 for further information.
